The longtime owner of a Post Falls auto body shop is believed to have drowned in Lake Coeur d’Alene on Saturday evening after he jumped from a boat at Stevens Point, just south of Tubbs Point, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office said.

Gary Scott “Scotty” Shawver, 57, went into the water after an item that fell from the boat. He was not wearing a life jacket, the Sheriff’s Office said.

John R. His 1998 Ford Escape was eastbound near North Lynden Road when it crossed the centerline and struck a 2006 Peterbilt driven by John R. Marrow, 62, of Loon Lake, police said. Marrow was uninjured.

The accident was due to an unsafe lane change, police said.

YouTube rant post results in arrest

A California man with a large swastika tattoo on his chest is facing a battery charge in North Idaho following a video posted on YouTube.

The Coeur d’Alene Press reports that police in Coeur d’Alene arrested 41 year old Gary Edwin Dixon, of Victorville, California, on Saturday after seeing the YouTube video posted on Wednesday.

Police say the video titled “Crazy guy at Texas Roadhouse” shows a shirtless Dixon raging at another man and his family in a parking lot as they leave a restaurant.

Dixon was booked into the Kootenai County Jail and released the same day on $300 bond. The jail roster lists Dixon as currently living in Post Falls.

Northern Idaho has a history of white supremacy groups but Dixon says he has no ties.

SNOQUALMIE PASS, Wash. An injured hiker who fell Saturday afternoon near the Alpental ski area near Snoqualmie Pass was rescued Sunday morning.

The Seattle Times reported the hiker was taken to Harborview Medical Center with unknown injuries.

Man saved after boat catches fire

SEATTLE The Coast Guard said Sunday it rescued a severely hypothermic man clinging to his partially submerged life raft off Washington’s northwestern tip after his boat caught fire and he abandoned it.

The man had been on the raft for nearly an hour when an agency helicopter hoisted him up around noon and transported him to a hospital. Petty Officer 3rd Class Katelyn Shearer said she didn’t know his condition, but he was able to walk into the facility.

The agency released a photo showing the 25 foot vessel engulfed in flames after its engine caught fire 3 miles north of Neah Bay. It was not yet known what caused the fire on the boat, which split in half and sank.

Even as owner Macy’s Inc, is investing in speeding up Bloomingdale’s online direct to customer delivery, Bloomingdale’s local agent, MSCretail, has been advertising for a 120,000 sf 150,000 sf “significant presence” street level space with “upscale retail co tenancy” in “Center City Philadelphia,” and for a string of 15,000 25,000 sf spaces at “lifestyle centers, outlet centers, downtown/urban envirnonments, and regional enclosed malls” but only at sites with that same “upscale and fast fashion co tenancy” in eastern Pa., South Jersey, Delaware.

You’d expect the reborn Gallery, the rival East Market mixed use project, and the various nearby Bart Blatstein proposals along North and South Broad St., would love to get a Bloomie’s, if only they could convince the store it won’t be lonely (for high end shoppers or “co tenants”) if it makes the move.

More clearly, both the downtown retail sites and the suburban malls owned by Gallery co owner PREIT;

by Simon Properties (King of Prussia, Philadelphia Mills, Philadelphia Premium); by General Growth Properties (Christiana Mall), and others, would be glad to welcome Bloomingdale’s Outlets.

But is it really Bloomingdale’s way, in this digital shopping age, to add so many locations in a slow grow market like Philadelphia, all at once? (Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s shut a net 5 stores in 2013, droping the count to 840.)

Maybe: The chain already has stores at King of Prussia (Simon) and Willow Grove (PREIT), but nothing in the city or South Jersey or the Main Line proper. And there’s no Bloomingdale’s Outlet closer than Paramus in North Jersey.

As to clustering department stores and outlets, stores, and whether they cannibalize one another: Here’s what Macy’s CFO Karen M. Houget said about Bloomingdale’s department stores and Outlets in her company’s Feb. 24 investor conference call:

“Initially we were nervous about putting on of the Bloomingdale’s Outlet too close to a Bloomingdale’s store. And what we found, is, it served as an entry point for the customer. And instead of taking business away from the base Bloomingdale’s store, we actually brought new customers, who learned and got comfortable with Bloomingdale’s from the Outlet experience,” and became new customers for the nearest larger Bloomingdale’s department store.

It worked well enough that the company now wants to also cluster Macy’s brand outlets with Macy’s department stores, too.

The analysts wanted to know: With Macy’s/Bloomingdale’s raising investor eyebrows by spending $100 million a month on capital improvements, can the chain afford to keep building both new stores and better online/warehouse/app networks?

“There is going to be ongoing investments in technology forever. The technology spend will not go down at least as far out as we can see. And obviously we’re continuing to maintain and add new stores where we can,

” Houget replied.

But that agreement was canceled last month when the Department of AG said the AWHPC was only doing birth control on the herds, and nothing else.

Despite the dispute advocates for the horses, more than 100 at the hearing asked the board to vote no on the proposal.

“This video has been viewed more times than there are people in Las Vegas, Nevada,” said Chris Thompson with Tahoe Reno Industrial Center as he referred to a video shot outside the battery factory in Storey County by Tesla founder Elon Musk

“One to three thousand horses at stake. And it is really important that we put our heads together and do something the right way,” Mark Dove told the board.

“Once a property is sold, be it horses, houses, land or anything,

intention is water under the bridge,” said Karen Roemmich, a Virginia Highlands resident.

In the hearing AG Director Jim Barbee says staff will be directed to draw up the contract, and set out a proposal to find a private party to take on the task. Public hearings or input would not be considered.

Of major concern to advocates: could these horses go to slaughter, even though board members say that is not their intention?

We asked a board member if a person involved in this contract wanted to slaughter these horses, bring the numbers down from 3,000 to 300; the department has nothing to say about that, right?

Discount mulberry annie bag Outlet Blown call adds to English misery

JOHANNESBURG The anger and indignation is destined to rage long and loud. Brace yourself: The irrefutable video evidence will be replayed more often than the Zapruder film over the few days.

Cheated, yes. Scandalously so.

No one can argue that the Three Lions and their rabid faithful have every reason to scream bloody murder today, ridiculously denied a legitimate Frank Lampard goal that would have (at least temporarily) evened Sunday’s off the dial anticipated FIFA World Cup round of 16 match against Germany.

“We heard the ball was behind the line,” acknowledged two goal star Thomas Mueller. “It was a bit of luck, which we had to seize with both hands.”

And it’d be too convenient, not to mention dangerously short sighted for England looking forward, to allow a single moment, however blatantly unfair, to obscure a few pertinent facts:

That the pokey back line, which Fabio Capello kept insisting World Cup worthy, was sliced open more easily than ‘Ammerin’ Henry Cooper.

That this so called Golden Generation of English stars, failing once again to deliver on the biggest of international stages, has been wildly over rated, by an avalanche of publicity and saturation coverage of the Premiership across the globe.

That the pugnacious Wayne Rooney if not, as rumoured, hiding an injury during this tournament has a long way to go to reach Lionel Messi like status.

Perhaps a 4 1 score line did slightly flatter the youthful, dynamic Germans. Yet that should in no way diminish a stunning accomplishment in Bloemfontein. They were superior in all facets. More inventive. Less wasteful. More poised, despite being on average four years younger than their adversaries.

At this tournament, England played one good game (Slovenia), a middling one (US. A.) and two stinkers.

Crucifying a referee doesn’t alter any of that.

Germany’s counter attack was devastating. Capello’s men simply could not catch up.

“They are a fantastic team and they deserved it,” praised captain Steven Gerrard graciously. “We’ll go away and have a think about what went wrong and why we didn’t progress further in the tournament. We’ve made a big mistake today and we’ve been beaten by a good team. They were more clinical in front of goal and they made less mistakes than us and we got punished.”

The disallowed goal certainly had shades of ’66, and Geoff Hurst’s crossbar cracker.

England had just cut its deficit in half, to 2 1, when a clever Lampard lob over a desperately backtracking Manuel Neuer struck the bar, ricocheted downward and landed a good yard over the goal line, in plain view, then shot back up and off the upright again before the German keeper could scramble to the rescue.

Obviously,
Discount mulberry annie bag Outlet Blown call adds to English misery
none of Uruguayan referee Jorge Larrionda or assistants Mauricio Espinosa nor Fabio Fandio of Brazil were in a position to see it conclusively. The list of refereeing curiosities at this World Cup has been, bluntly, staggering.

Considering the stakes involved and the profile of the aggrieved country, this latest sham should be enough for the dinosaurs at FIFA to finally implement goal line technology. What’s amazing is that the world’s governing body of the sport stands to rake in an estimated $4 billion off this cash cow tournament, then leaves its officials hanging out for ridicule by not providing the proper technical assistance.

“It was one of the most important things in the game,” moaned Capello, whose $12 million Cdn a year contract netted one win at this World Cup. “The goal was very important. We could have played a different style. We made some mistakes when they played the counter attack.

“The referee made bigger mistakes. Little things decide the result always.”

Little things. And superb goals.

Germany’s second strike, in particular, was an absolute spellbinder, the back from suspension Miroslav Klose scorer of the first spinning a delightful pass from the touchline into open space for Mueller to run onto and the Bayern Munich starlet delicately volleying across the face of the box to Lukas Podolski to slot behind English keeper David James.

Klose to Mueller to Podolski. Soccer’s version of Tinker to Evers to Chance.

The fourth nearly matched that one for sheer class. An outlet ball sprayed from deep in German territory sending the silky Mesut Oezil streaking down the left touchline. Leaving the pursuing Gareth Barry huffing and puffing in his wake, Oezil drove into the box and then, parading his great vision, cooly squared across for the onrushing Mueller for the simplest of finishes.

As England exit this World Cup, Rooney’s failure to deliver a single goal here has to be one of the most disheartening aspects.

Ironically, Argentine striker Diego Milito had waded into the Messi Rooney debate that very morning.

“When we hear the English or anybody else in the world of football trying to compare Wayne Rooney with Messi, we find it laughable,” Milito told the Daily Star. “Rooney is a very good player, there is no doubt about that but to put him on the same level as Messi is wrong. It’s not up for debate, it’s just wrong.

“We are looking at a player in Messi who, when he retires, may very well be the best player to have graced the game. How can he be compared to anybody currently playing, let alone a player who has never ever won World Player of the Year?

“While I don’t agree with it, I can understand Messi being compared to Kaka and Ronaldo, but Rooney? No, no, no. I think Rooney is a very good player, maybe even a top 20 player in the world but that doesn’t make him Messi,
Discount mulberry annie bag Outlet Blown call adds to English misery
it doesn’t even make him close to Messi.”

Sen. Perry Thurston, a Fort Lauderdale Democrat who proposed the reporting requirement, said the data collection would help determine if minorities are disproportionately ticketed for texting while driving.

is just an effort to say, well, just monitor it, see how it being handled, Thurston said. don know if it goes far enough, but certainly it will give us the information. Texting while driving is a offense, meaning motorists can only be cited if they are pulled over for other reasons. But if it is made a primary offense, police would be able to stop motorists for texting behind the wheel.

In voting against the bill, Sen. Bobby Powell, D West Palm Beach, said the potential impacts of the texting proposal on minorities outweigh the benefits.

as a state senator, I get in my car and I drive and when a police officer gets behind me, I never have the comfort, ever in life, of feeling safe, Powell, who is black, said.

While the requirement on reporting race and ethnicity was added,

the Senate panel rejected an attempt to make the proposal potentially stronger by requiring motorists to be free from electronic devices while behind the wheel.

Sen. Audrey Gibson, a Jacksonville Democrat who also voted against the amended measure, sought the hands free requirement to lessen the chance minorities would be racially profiled.

believe that it is impossible to determine with the phones that we have today whether someone is texting or dialing, Gibson said. like for us to be cautious. And hands free, there is no doubt whether someone is using their phone. Also, the devices could be used for such things as getting directions.

Gibson, who is black, said would be needed in her community about being extra careful when driving if a hands free provision is not added to the bill.

also know what it looks like to be a minority, and not every law enforcement agency in this state is sensitive, she said. sometimes leads to death. And there are a lot of factors that we should consider when we do something that impacts not one or two people, but every single person on the road.

don want the bill to be derailed because we tried to push too hard this session, Perry said.

Perry who has two driving age daughters, said the overall proposal is designed to change the behavior of motorists including himself rather than get people pulled over or allow law enforcement to raise money.

it as a secondary offense tells people, especially these young people, it OK, just don do something else, Perry said. don get caught. Don run a red light. Don do something else. Texting and driving is OK. And that what we telling young people.

The House version (HB 33), which does not have a similar race and ethnicity reporting requirement, is a priority of Speaker Richard Corcoran, R Land O Lakes.

Discount mulberry usa Outlet Boat dock at Fairbanks Park remains closed indefinitely

The city named the boat dock after former mayor Ralph Tucker. It opened in May of 1992. Nearly 26 years later, the once large dock is nearly left in ruins. On Friday, Parks crews used cables to secure the dock and ran them to large trees and metal posts. This is to keep what’s left of the dock from floating downstream. Some parts of the dock already have.

Jon Certain says he’s frequently used the dock since it’s opened.

Jon wonders what’s next for the dock. Will the city repair or replace it? Will they do away with a dock here altogether. We posed those questions to Superintendent Eddie Bird.

“I don’t know where we’ll go from here,” Bird admitted. “We don’t budget for things like this.”

According to a marker we found near the dock, it was made possible by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources through the Indiana Waters Fishing and Boating Access Program. It was dedicated during the Pete Chalos administration.

After watching park crews continue their work securing what’s left of the dock, Bird told me,

“I would hate to put a bunch of money into this dock and the same thing happens next year.”

And that’s a definite possibility.

News 10 reached out to city engineer Chuck Ennis. He told us more ice floes are likely now that Duke Energy’s Wabash Generating Station is shut down. He said when it operated, the plant used lots of river water to cool the turbines. It would, in turn, put lots of warm water back out into the river. This would prevent it from freezing, even in extreme temperatures.

Now that the generating statiton is done, Ennis said the river will likely freeze every winter. That’s why Bird favors buying a new dock for Fairbanks Park,

one that can be removed every winter. He says they’re looking into the cost of both repairing the current dock and replacing it.
