The site based its criteria on the price and amount of existing homes, new home construction, and local economic trends.

“We’ve been number one a lot in the last 15 years but this one list we finally want to be on, you remember we were number one for foreclosures and short sales but now were the number 1 hottest market to look forward to,” said Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors President, Chris Bishop.

Homes across the valley are flying off the market.

2017 was the 3rd best year for real estate sales in the Valley and realtors predict this year will be even better.

Bishop said it’s a great time to live and own a home in Las Vegas.

“People are back to work, they’re spending money the economy here is fantastic the nightlife is great, everywhere you go in Southern Nevada there is development happening,” he said.

Experts believe the hot housing market means demand is high, but supply is limited.

“Low inventory is going to be the biggest issue that buyers are going to have in 2018 so if you’re out to buy that first time home you may have to offer on a few houses to get the one you want,” he said.

Bishop said buyers will most likely face competition when they make an offer to find a good agent and be prepared.

“You’re gonna want to make sure you have your approval letter in place, know how you’re going to pay for the property if you’re getting a loan do you understand the loan program, the more likely you are to get presented in a good light to the seller,” he said.

It is a seller’s market so if you’re thinking about listing your home now is a great time.

“Now buyers are out there just wanting to get into a property and so if you have that home and it’s available you’ve got a lot of it done”

Home prices are rising, but does that mean we’re heading toward another housing bubble?

Realtors like Tim Kelly Kiernan believe the market tends to go up and down they’re optimistic we’ve already seen the worst of it.

“I don’t think what happened in 2008 will ever happen again a lot of that had to do with the mortgages and poorly written mortgages. I don’t think the bubble will happen ever again in our lifetime I don’t see it happening,” he said. 95 and Rainbow identifiedUpdated: Thursday, March 8 2018 6:39 PM EST2018 03 08 23:39:31 GMT

mulberry pink purse Las Vegas mass shootings divides nation on 2nd Amendment and gun laws

The national gun debate continues to divide a nation mourning the mass shooting deaths in Las Vegas.

“I’m pro Second Amendment,” Dean Wilson said Thursday while at the On Target firearms, target shooting and gun instruction business in Murfreesboro. “I believe we have that for a purpose. Among those killed was Tennessee resident Sonny Melton, a 29 year old registered nurse.

“I think they really shouldn’t allow guns, except if you are a police officer,” Cagle said. “That’s the way I feel because there’s too much going on as far as shootings. They should ban them.”

On a more local level, residents are grieving the recent death of Melanie Crowof Smyrna. Crow was killed while leavingBurnette Chapel Church of Christ on Sept.

More:Republicans may consider Democrats’ plan to ban gun ‘bump stocks’ after Vegas shooting

Lawmakers confront gun lawsThe shootings have led to calls for Congress to pass new laws, such as prohibiting the bump stock attachment that enables some rifles to fire several rounds automatically.

Jerry Lane of Murfreesboro sees no value in a law pertaining to bump stocks.

“A guy could make one of those out of a piece of wood in 20 minutes,” Lane said Thursday in the firearms instruction classroom at the On Target store. “The rifle doesn’t shoot the people. The people shoot the people.”

Lane noted how Robert Caleb Engle, a victim of the shooting at the Antioch church, was able to subdue Samson.

“It was a legal handgun permit holder who held (the shooter) at bay,” Lane said.

Gun control backers want more lawsCagle’s huband, Casey Cagle, supports stronger gun control laws.

“I don’t know if that would change anything,” he said. “The guy in Vegas passed several FBI background checks.”

Robert New of Smyrna opposes assault rifles.

“I’m sick of mealy mouth politicians who offer their thoughts and prayers, when they should be passing legislation to take assault weapons out of the hands of unstable individuals,” New said. “When is enough, enough? One hundred thousand people are shot every year in this country.

“We don’t need AR 15’s, AK 47’s, Bushmaster M 4’s or a 30 round magazines to shoot Bambi’s mother,” New added. “Gun violence is a public health issue that needs to be solved. I don’t have all the answers, but I do know more guns isn’t one of them.”

Skip in SkipSecond Amendment backer worries about politiciansLane said he’d rather see current laws enforced rather than new ones enacted in response to the Las Vegas shooting.

“I would ask a politician what law would he create that would have prevented what happened,” Lane said. “The laws they have created are created to punish legal gun owners. Why not punish the person who committed the crimes? The bottom line is we live in a free society. This is always going to happen no matter what happens.”

Lane said he doubts any psychiatric background check would prevent mass shootings.

“If somebody’s going to shoot around me, I’m shooting back,” said Lane, adding that gun owners do need to keep firearms out of the hands of children. “There’s a lot of responsibility with carrying a gun.””I’d like for America to stay safe, and responsible law abiding citizens should be able to protect themselves with firearms,” Wilson said. “We lose more people from automobiles every year than we do from firearms. Should we ban automobiles?”

Stephen Paddock’s emails were disclosed in affidavits unsealed Friday after several media organizations, including The Associated Press, fought for their release.

The documents said Paddock had received an email from a Gmail account in July encouraging him to try an AR style rifle before buying one. It said, “we have huge selection” in the Las Vegas area.

Paddock wrote back that he wanted to try several scopes and different types of ammunition. An email in response suggested trying a bump stock on the rifle with a 100 round magazine.

ONE OF THE world’s largest fishes, this strangely wonderful shark like ray occurs in waters around the world. Individuals can grow larger than 6.5m (including the saw) and weigh up to 600kg.

They are named for their distinctive saw like snout with about 14 23 protruding teeth (which are actually scales) on each side. They use the snout to find and stun prey, which includes schooling fish such as mullet, as well as molluscs and crustaceans.

Unlike many fish that either live in freshwater or marine environments, the sawfish can move through both (known as being ‘euryhaline’). Juveniles are often found in freshwater, whereas adults are most often in estuary or marine waters.

What were formerly considered separate species,P. pristis, P. microdon, and P. perotteti, are nowlisted under the one species P. pristis and thought to be subpopulations occurring in tropical waters in theEastern Atlantic, Western Atlantic, Eastern Pacific and Indo West Pacific oceans.

Our local sawfish (Indo West Pacific population) population is one of the last strong ones, listed just as Vulnerable nationally; therefore, they are important to the whole species’ survival globally.

They are found in the muddy bottoms of Australia’s big northern rivers and estuaries, including the Fitzroy and Ord rivers in WA, the Adelaide and Daly rivers in the NT, and the Mitchell and Leichhardt rivers in Qld. They have been found 400km from the sea.

Sawfish are ‘ovoviviparous’, meaning that a mother incubates her eggs inside her until they are ready to be born. A litter ranges from 1 11 pups and individuals don’t reach maturity until about 8 10 years. The Australian population has been estimated to live for up to 35 years.

Threats to sawfish extinction

The shark fin trade is a major threat to their survival globally, as is the traditional medicine trade. Their unusual saw like snout is also a treasured item, which makes them a target for illegal trade. Their snouts also cause them to easily become trapped in nets, so this type of fishing is also a threat.

The doors officially opened Thursday at the Shane Homes YMCA in the northwest community of Rocky Ridge.

The facility cost $192 million to build and stands at 284,000 square feet. There are over 9,000 Calgarians signed up for memberships three times the number originally expected.

The YMCA includes an eight lane competition pool, a leisure and wave pool with two water slides, hot tubs and steam rooms, two ice rinks, exercise areas, running track, an art studio, childcare, food services, a 250 seat theatre, a medical clinic and a self serve library.

Mayor Naheed Nenshi was on hand for the unveiling and said he is happy the project was both on time and on budget.

is an incredible demand right now in northwest Calgary for this kind of facility, and I hope that it will serve as a place for community building for generations to come, he said.

CEO and president of YMCA Calgary Shannon Doram said membership sales surpassed expectations.

think people were waiting for a facility like this and we know the city itself has grown, and there are a lot of young families in this part of the community, and this combines a lot of amenities in one place, she explained.

The facility is the third of four new recreation wellness centres to open in underserved areas as part of a $480 million investment by The City of Calgary.

CHIPPEWA FALLS A southern Minnesota swine operation has announced it has canceled plans to build three large hog facilities in Chippewa County.

Jay Moore, Old Fashion Pork environmental services director, said his company has decided against opening one operation near Jim Falls in the town of Eagle Point and two more south of Cornell in the town of Estella.

just wasn a good fit, Moore said Friday. setbacks weren great we love to be more isolated. We like to have more than 300 feet (from our nearest neighbors). We also decided it was just too far from the sow farm we have in Clark County. Moore said say never, he added the company no longer is looking at sites in Chippewa County.

When the Jackson, Minn. based company announced plans to build the facilities which would have had the capacity to raise 2,400 pigs at each location several people living near the sites spoke out at county committee meetings in opposition to the plan. Moore said that opposition wasn a factor.

hadn gotten that far, he said. was an internal decision. plans called for the Eagle Point farm and one of the sites in Estella to have 300 by 92 foot buildings. They each would have had two manure pits, roughly 10 feet deep and 20 feet wide, and running the full length of the 300 foot buildings. They would be emptied every 279 days. The other farm in Eagle Point would open with a capacity for 1,200 hogs but would have expansion plans in place for another 1,200.

Chippewa County conservationist Dan Masterpole said his office received the cancellation for the permit request for the three facilities. Masterpole has canceled soil investigation studies at each site. Public hearings which were going to be set for later this month also have been canceled.

regard to moving forward, please know our office is well positioned to resume the permitting process at any time using the information that has been provided and generated to date, Masterpole wrote in an email to Moore. know that we respect these decisions and are committed to working with you as your expansion plans become more definite. Gullickson, chairman of the county Land Conservation and Forest Management Committee, was surprised when Masterpole informed him the company had pulled its permit application.

Gullickson said the issue that came up was something his committee had little control over.

vast majority (of the public who spoke at our meeting) were against it, Gullickson said. don think it will go away forever; it on the radar screen. Fashion Pork planned to bring newborn pigs to the three farms, raise them until they reached processing weight and then ship them out. No butchering was to be done on site.

People who attended the committee meeting in October expressed concerns about odor, water quality and the effect on property values.

Eagle Point is a town that uses the county zoning rules, so Old Fashion Pork would have needed a conditional use permit from the county before it could have started construction. The town of Estella doesn use those zoning rules, so the company would have only needed to meet requirements for a manure basin and pass a soil and site investigation to move forward.

HERRIMAN Police have identified the suspect in a shooting in Riverton that led to a shelter in place order in Herriman for several hours Saturday. that all shelter in place orders for Herriman and Riverton were lifted.

Police identified that suspect as 33 year old Justin Gary Llewelyn of Riverton. Police say they are still searching for him, but are also asking him to turn himself in.

Sheriff Rosie Rivera addressed the man by name Saturday during a press conference and told him to call police to work out his surrender.

“We are asking you to call us, turn yourself in, we want to make sure that nobody else is injured or hurt as part of this situation,” she said. at 4940 w 13400 s in Riverton. A sergeant who just finished his shift in the area was on his way home when he spotted a “suspicious individual” in the neighborhood.

The officer approached Llewelyn who pulled out a gun and shot at him. The officer was not hit. Llewelyn then encountered another officer and the two exchanged fire. Again, no one was injured.

Police say Llewelyn then broke into a nearby house and shot the homeowner. They say the homeowner was originally in critical condition but has since been upgraded to “good condition.”

Llewelyn stole a Nissan Murano from the residence and fled from police before abandoning the vehicle in the area of Ashland Ridge and Emmeline Drive in Herriman.

Officials said the stolen vehicle had a firearm in it before it was stolen and that the suspect likely has two guns as he continues to evade police. A reverse emergency call was issued by Unified Police advising those in the area of 13400 S to Blackridge Reservoir to stay inside their homes.

Kathy Damjanovich, a Herriman resident, reacted to the incident Saturday.

“Herriman is a really family friendly place and it’s safe here, and I hate for someone to have to make that hard for other people,” she said.

Unified Police consider Llewelyn armed and dangerous and are asking the public to keep an eye out for the suspect.

Sheriff Rosie Rivera said police have interacted with Llewelyn before. Court documents recount multiple incidents of aggravated assault, domestic violence, and drug charges.

In November 2012, Llewelyn went to his ex wife’s home in Midvale. She was there with her boyfriend and a baby when Llewelyn entered, became aggressive, and eventually stabbed the boyfriend in his torso. He also cut his ex wife in the altercation.

Less than a year later, in August 2013, police were called to Llewelyn’s most recent residence in Riverton (the same residence police served a search warrant at Saturday when looking for him). He got into an argument with his family and kicked a dent into a family member’s car. Court documents state when his brother confronted him, Llewelyn threatened to kill the family, got into his own car and drove at the family members standing outside in an effort to run them over. He hit a barrier before he could injure anyone and was taken into custody.

If anyone sees Justin Gary Llewelyn, suspicious activity in their neighborhood, or have evidence of Llewelyn on surveillance video, they are urged to call police at 911 or 801 743 7000.
