Illinois Tool Works CEO E. Scott Santi and wife Nancy paid $6.1 million last month for a four bedroom, 6,350 square foot vintage mansion on Lake Michigan in Winnetka.
Santi, who became Glenview based Illinois Tool Works’ CEO in late 2012, earned total compensation of just under $12 million in 2014, according to the firm’s most recent proxy statement. A deed that was recorded with Cook County last week identifies Nancy Santi as the buyer of the two story lakefront house, which sits on a 1.05 acre parcel.
Built in 1927 as part of a set of three lakefront homes designed by Sloan Johnson, the Santis’ turreted,
French Normandy style house has arched dormers, herringbone style brickwork and limestone banding, among other unusual architectural features.
It has 51/2 baths, two first floor master suites, a temperature controlled conservatory, a grill room, two wine cellars and a heated, underground six car garage. The mansion had been on and off the market for the past three years for $6.995 million.
